  1. Heard the debut album for the first time today. With perhaps one or two exceptions, I can’t recall ever being this spellbound by a piece of music (a vinyl copy is now a necessity of the utmost priority). Any excursions to America in the near future?

    1. Thanks for the kind words, Josh; they’ll be passed on to the band. No American excursions planned for the moment – the costs are prohibitive!

  4. I first heard Comus when I got their second album. I liked it very much. That was in 1980. Much later on I got first utterance. Excellent but weird. I wonder if the group is still playing live and if so what music they play at present. I’d like to see them.

    1. Hi Xavi,

Thanks for you comments and question. We don’t play live so often now – I think the last gig we did was about a year ago, but if you look on Youtube you’ll find various videos of the band in recent years.
We’ve also got a DVD of our reformation gig at the Melloboat Festival for order here: https://comusmusic.co.uk/merchandise/ and ‘Out Of The Coma’, the album that we released a while back is available here: https://jonseagroatt.com/albums-for-sale/, as is ‘East Of Sweden’, a CD of our Melloboat Festival appearance.
Thanks again for your kind words; I’ll make sure the rest of the band know what you said!

    1. Thanks for asking, Christopher, but I’m afraid there’s nothing planned for the time being; we’re taking a bit of a sabbatical break at the moment.

    2. Hi there,

Been a huge Comus fan for years. I’ve been dying to learn how to play some of Glen’s guitar work. Any chance we could see a tab from Comus’ work? The Herald solo in particular would be fantastic.

      1. Hi Ryan, thanks for your kind words. Sadly, there are no Comus tabs available as far as we know, and neither Roger nor Glenn ever got round to writing anything down themselves – not even basic chord charts! Sorry.

  6. Hi Comus,

I know that Out of the Coma and a few other songs are available on Spotify. Is there any chance of getting all of the albums released on the Spotify platform? I lost my copy a couple of years ago and I would love to be able to hear First Utterance again.

    Cheers.

    1. Hello Ant,
Thanks for your message. I’m afraid the band don’t own the rights to the original album recordings for First Utterance (though they retain all their songwriter’s rights). The recording rights have been sold several times over by various companies, and we think that they might now reside with Universal. For better or worse, the decision as to whether or not to make FU available for streaming rests entirely with them, not with Comus……

      1. Hello HH, sorry to say that we no longer have any copies of the Rise Above ‘First Utterance’ reissue. The best bet would probably be to keep an eye on Discogs listings….

  7. Is there any chance that the Comus sabbatical might come to an end, and we might be blessed with a tour (or just a gig or two) any time soon?

    1. Hi Tommy, thanks for getting in contact. Sadly, there’s unlikely to be any change in Comus’ ‘resting’ status in the foreseeable future. Sorry not to have better news for you.

  8. Hey, huge fan. I noticed that the Omerch site seems to be empty. Any chance of this opening up again soon? I’d love to get myself some. Thanks

    1. Hi Harvey – thanks for getting in contact. I don’t think the Omerch site will be reopening any time soon. We do still have some t-shirts, and if you let us know what size you’re interested in, we’ll have a look and let you know what’s available.
